Finally, 40 years after the acceptance of the Maine Coon breed into Championship and 10 years after the first polydactyls were shown in New Traits, Maine Coon Polydactyl Champions are a FACT!
On May 10th, 2015, at the Be TICACats club show in Halle, Belgium, 2 year old female LeatherAndLace Missundaztood PP earned her place in TICA history when she became the first Maine Coon Polydactyl Champion. Judge Kurt Vlach, who has judged so many Maine Coon Polydactyls at the TICA Cats and Tulips shows in the Netherlands, awarded the qualifying final to this beautiful example of the Maine Coon breed (with a little bit extra!).
Less than a week later, at the SpoTICAt Cat Club show in Jersey (Channel Islands) UK, Migatobonito Pepe P Pawparazzi became the first male MCP Champion, making his own history with five finals, including a Best Long Hair Cat in Championship.
The Maine Coon Polydactyl (as part of the Maine Coon Breed Group) was accepted into Championship in TICA beginning May 1st. 2015. Many thanks to all who worked so hard to make this happen!
